Renewable Energy and Natural Resources

Claydon Estate believes in contributing to a sustainable future.  The Estate’s green energy initiatives form part of this vision.

Renewable Energy and Natural Resources

Renewable Energy and Natural Resources

By prioritising sustainable practices today, we are safeguarding the countryside so that future communities can enjoy the land and benefits that we experience now. This commitment is woven into every aspect of our operations, reflecting our belief that the choices we make today will shape the environment our descendants inherit tomorrow.

Biomass

Biomass is a renewable and sustainable source of heat.

Our Biomass boiler produces heat and hot water using woodchip sourced from sustainable forestry. A number of our tenants benefit from this renewable source of energy.

    Solar Energy

Claydon Estate is working alongside Rosefield Solar Farm to produce renewable energy from solar power.

The choice to allocate land for the Rosefield solar park reflects our commitment to both environmental stewardship and economic resilience. As traditional farming faces increasing challenges, it is essential for estates like ours to diversify operations to ensure continued support for the community, including the preservation of jobs and the well-being of our residential and commercial tenants.

Solar energy offers a sustainable revenue stream that not only contributes to the global transition to renewable energy but also supports the Estate’s financial viability. This income will enable us to maintain and enhance the estate’s activities, support local employment, and invest in conservation efforts that improve biodiversity.

By embracing solar energy, we are securing the estate’s financial ability to continue to provide residential, commercial and recreational opportunities for the local community.

      Rainwater Harvesting

In 2023, we completed the construction of a new grain store. We have installed 50,000 litres capacity of rainwater storage tanks to collect rainwater off the building’s roof.  This will reduce our farming enterprise’s reliance on mains water.
