Job Title: Landscape Gardener

What’s your role at Claydon Estate?

I’m part of a team of three landscape gardeners on Claydon Estate. My role is to help look after and maintain all our outdoor spaces from our walled gardens to the wider landscape.

My role is varied and changes with the seasons. Jobs within a typical day can include anything from weeding and maintaining our flower beds, to mowing, hedge cutting or watering.  The summer months involve lots of mowing and weeding whereas, during the autumn, there’s a lot of leaf blowing to be done!

We have a variety of events throughout the year from parkland festivals for 5000+ people to small garden gatherings for anything between 5 – 500 people! During these times we focus on the key areas being used making sure they’re prepared as necessary and well presented.

Describe your perfect day here!

It’s a varied job and there’s not a day that I don’t enjoy.  I particularly enjoy mowing and hedge cutting.

In your role, what are you most looking forward to over the next few months?

I’ve been working for Claydon Estate for 6 months so far, so I’m excited to see what the next season will bring.  I enjoy the seasonal changes and I’m particularly looking forward to autumn here and seeing the landscape change colour. 

What interests/hobbies do you have?

At the weekends, I enjoy playing football and cricket. I’m an Arsenal fan and enjoy going to watch a game when I can.

Finally, what’s your favourite film or book, and why?

I enjoy an action film – American Sniper and the Die-Hard films are definitely firm favourites!
