Maintenance Operative
Claydon Estate is a historic and picturesque rural estate nestled in the heart of the North Buckinghamshire countryside. Rich in heritage and surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, the Estate offers a unique setting for a host of activities and manages a portfolio of residential, commercial and agricultural properties.
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced part time Maintenance Operative to ensure our Estate remains a safe and welcoming environment for visitors, guests, tenants and staff alike, whilst being preserved and enhanced for future generations.
Job Overview
As the Maintenance Operative on the Claydon Estate, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of property maintenance, ensuring the built estate and facilities are maintained to the highest standards. You will take a proactive and hands-on approach, managing repairs, maintenance projects, and compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs across the Estate. · Oversee and arrange routine maintenance on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other essential systems.
· Carry out routine repairs, including painting, carpentry, and minor electrical and plumbing fixes.
· Ensure the Estate complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
· Respond promptly to maintenance requests from the Estate Office.
· Maintain an organised inventory of tools, supplies, and parts.
· Assist with the setup and maintenance of event spaces to ensure smooth operations.
· Be on call to handle urgent repairs or emergencies outside of normal working hours.
· Work within the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Ideal Candidate Characteristics and Skills
· Proven experience in property maintenance or a similar role (essential).
· Hands-on expertise in trades such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repair (essential).
· Strong personal skills, with the ability to manage and oversee external contractors.
· Excellent communication and organizational abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
· The ability to work on your own, as well as part of a team.
· Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the Estate at the highest standard.
· A proactive problem-solver with the ability to assess and implement practical solutions.
· Flexibility to manage urgent repairs or emergencies as needed.
· A positive attitude and a passion for preserving and enhancing historic properties.
· A full, current clean driving licence is essential.
